Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series Bourbon: A New 9 Year Limited Release

Luxco’s Remus Bourbon brand is launching a new limited-release line called the Remus Master Distiller Experimental Series, with Batch One featuring a 9-year-old bourbon aged in Seguin Moreau barrels from Napa Valley. These barrels combine lightly charred and heavily toasted elements, expected to bring forward rich oak, toasted marshmallow, and deep caramelized flavors. Bottled at 53.5% ABV and priced at $80, this release remains under $100—a notable value compared to many other limited editions that are younger yet priced significantly higher.

The introduction of this series highlights the industry’s ongoing experimentation with barrel finishes and aging techniques, a promising trend for whiskey enthusiasts. As an MGP product under Luxco, availability could be decent, though past releases have proven elusive. It will be interesting to see how the market responds once bottles hit shelves. I’ll be keeping an eye on the demand and, hopefully, getting a chance to sample it to see if those toasted notes truly shine through.
