Exploring Peter E. Hart: A New Whiskey Brand With Deep Kentucky Roots

Earlier this week, I had the chance to chat with Aaron and Lizzy, the founders of Peter E. Hart, a new whiskey brand making waves in Kentucky. What immediately stood out to me was their authenticity and passion—not just for whiskey, but for telling a meaningful story through their brand. Named after one of Lizzy’s grandfathers, Peter E. Hart, a Union sergeant who fell in love with Kentucky during the Civil War, the brand is rooted in history and a deep connection to the land. Though they are currently sourcing their whiskey, their vision includes building something special—perhaps a distillery or tasting room—on their family’s historic farm in Perryville.

Right now, Peter E. Hart offers an eight-year wheated bourbon and a three-year rye, both of which I’m excited to review. For those hesitant about younger ryes, remember that rye whiskey matures faster than bourbon, often delivering great flavor even at a lower age statement. The brand is currently available in Kentucky through Liquor Barn and Total Wine, and they’re working on expanding their presence in local restaurants. With their dedication to quality and innovation, I’m eager to see how they put their unique spin on future releases. If you’re in Kentucky, I highly recommend checking them out!
