Kentucky Peerless Joins the Toasted Rye Trend with Exclusive Release

Kentucky Peerless Distilling is joining the toasted barrel trend with its latest release, Toasted Rye Batch 1. This Kentucky-exclusive rye whiskey blends Peerless rye aged between four and eight years, finishing for a month in a toasted oak barrel. Priced at $110 per bootle, this release continues the growing popularity of toasted ryes, a category that I’ve found to be something special.

My love for toasted ryes started with Michter’s Toasted Rye, which I initially thought might be overhyped–until I tried it and understood the appeal. From there, Nulu Toasted Rye, especially at high proof, reinforced how well the toasted process complements a rye mash bill. While I won’t be able to grab a bottle of the Peerless release myself, I hope to try a pour at some point. Cheers!
