Rare Saint Rye Whiskey doesn’t try to be anything but a rye—and that’s a good thing. Right from the nose, you get classic rye spice, a touch of pine, bright citrus, and a little cinnamon, with just a hint of grassiness. It’s bold but balanced, without any overpowering notes. On the palate, that spice carries through, with a noticeable heat that settles into red fruit—think raspberries—alongside the citrus. The finish? Long-lasting rye spice, but not much beyond that. It’s a solid pour, though I wouldn’t call it overly complex.

While this is a rye you can sip neat without hesitation, it really feels like it could shine in a cocktail. The fruitiness and spice would work beautifully in something citrus-forward—maybe a whiskey sour. Overall, Rare Saint Rye is exactly what you’d expect from a rye whiskey, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s straightforward, flavorful, and worth trying whether you’re a rye fan or just dipping your toes into the category.
